Jason Lee

Jason Lee is a leading hairstylist and colorist, and the co-owner of Toronto’s celebrated Jason Lee Salon. He is the recipient of the coveted L'Oréal Colour Trophy and the first-ever winner of the Superstar Hair Challenge television show on Canada’s Slice Network.

The founder and face of Mela & Kera, Jason is known as much for his exceptional balayage and hair color as his luxuriously light and airy cuts. A favorite with the Canadian media, Jason is a regular hair expert on popular television shows such as Cityline, ET Canada and Breakfast Television. A leader in the Canadian Hair Industry, he has been a member of the judging panel for both FASHION Magazine’s Beauty Awards and Salon Magazine's Contessa Awards. He frequently contributes his hair expertise to publications like ELLE Canada, The Kit, Flare and Hello Canada.

Jason has served as a hair ambassador for international companies John Frieda, Dyson, Marc Anthony and Color Wow. He has also worked as a stylist at New York Fashion Week, Brooklyn Fashion Week and the world-famous Serge Normant Salon in New York City.

Born in Toronto to a Chinese immigrant father and a Chinese Canadian mother, Jason was exposed to the vibrant world of art and theatre from a young age. To cultivate his passion for creativity, Jason’s mother enrolled him in dance, music, drama and French immersion programs.

At the age of 15, Jason was discovered by the World Champion Award-winning hairdresser Sabino DiTacchio, who hired him to choreograph industry hair shows across North America. Inspired by the high level of artistry on display, Jason instantly fell in love with the idea of becoming a hairstylist and received his diploma in hairdressing shortly thereafter.

Jason spent the early 2000s working closely with Toronto’s most high-profile women and gained a devoted following for pioneering a lightweight, airy textured look. This luxurious signature texture brought an ethereal, romantic and boldly feminine quality to every cut, quickly becoming Jason’s calling card and claim to fame.

Currently, Jason divides his time as CEO of Mela & Kera and styling hair at his namesake salon in Midtown Toronto.
